Surprisingly, the physical behavior of water strongly departs from other liquids, showing an unusual behavior in many of its properties. The maximum of density, which for pure water is achieved at around 4 C at the atmospheric pressure, is the most widely known among these physical anomalies. At present, it is an accepted that this maximum comes from a competition between two forms of water: one characterized by a highly ordered hydrogen-bonded structure, less dense and prevalent at low temperature, and the other one, less structured, denser, and prevalent at high temperature. The addition of solutes distorts the hydrogen bonded structure of water, modifing the location of the temperature of maximum density (TMD) &#8211; an experimental fact noted as far back as XIX century [1]. The amount of the variation in the TMD depends on the solute concentration and also on its chemical nature. Usually, TMD goes to lower temperatures, decreasing  as solute concentrations increases. However, some chemicals, mainly short chain alcohols, slightly<br \/>\nincrease the TMD. A significant amount of new experimental works have been carried out<br \/>\nrecently [2-4], allowing to see a wider perspective.<br \/>\nDuring the seminar we shall review the recent results comprising a variety of inorganic and organic solvents and the effect of pressure over the TMD. <\/p>\n<p>Acknowledgment<br \/>\nThe author acknowledges financial support from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation under Grant No. PID2020-115722GB-C22.<\/p>\n<p>References<br \/>\n1. Jej w\u0142asno\u015bci fizyczne, a w szczeg\u00f3lno\u015bci temperatura najwi\u0119kszej g\u0119sto\u015bci (TMD) znacznie odbiegaj\u0105 od pozosta\u0142ych cieczy. Pod normalnym ci\u015bnieniem najwi\u0119ksza g\u0119sto\u015b\u0107 osi\u0105gana jest oko\u0142o temperatury 4 stopni C. Rozpuszczanie w wodzie substancji mo\u017ce zar\u00f3wno TMD obni\u017ca\u0107 jak i podwy\u017csza\u0107 [1] (np. alkohole o kr\u00f3tkim \u0142a\u0144cuchu w\u0119glowym), za co odpowiedzialne s\u0105 g\u0142\u00f3wnie wi\u0105zania wodorowe.
